The Cisco Enhanced EtherSwitch Service Modules is designed to meet small to midsize business offices needs. SM-ES3-16-P is router blade for the Cisco Integrated Services Routers Generation 2 (ISR2) to deliver Layer 3 switching capability which is identical capacity to catalyst 3560 series switch. SM-ES3-16-P has 15 FastEthernet ports and 1 Gigabit Ethernet port in upgradeable IP base feature set with POE capability which supplies up to 20 Watts per port (ePOE).

The Cisco Enhanced EtherSwitch Service Module runs independently of host router resource, it has their own processors, switching engines, flash memory and own upgradable IOS to ensure maximum concurrent switching and routing performance. The single platform with integrated switch simplifies network management and troubleshooting, enhances scalability, offers investment protection; minimizes downtime that affects business operations.
